NYISO Report Signals New York Electric Grid Changes

The NYISO has issued its annual grid update, “Power Trends 2014: Evolution of the Grid,” this time indicating potential major changes may be coming, in response to power plant retirements, additional power generation from wind and other renewable sources, continued reliance upon natural gas generation and pricing affected by gas prices, potential increases in local “distributed” generation with reduced reliance on large central station power, and changes in peak electricity usage.
