Albany Times Union: PSC Rejects Phone Shutoffs

Times Union — State regulators have denied a request by Time Warner Cable that would have made it easier for the company to disconnect phone customers who fall behind on their bills.

Time Warner Cable had asked the state Public Service Commission in May to waive rules that prohibit phone service shutoffs after 3 p.m. on Fridays and on Saturdays, arguing that the change would give customers more time to negotiate a payment plan with the company.
