New York state consumers looking for the best utility rates can shop around to buy their gas and electricity from sources other than National Grid. That can be hard to do if the alternate energy suppliers do not publicize their rates. However, one public advocacy group is asking the Public Service Commission to do that.

The Public Utility Law Project, a nonprofit organization advocating for low-income customers, wants National Grid to release a two-year comparison of their utility prices to those paid to energy service companies or ESCOs as part of the regulatory review of National Grid’s gas and electric rates, the Syracuse Post-Standard reports.
